Viewing Your Document in Netscape Before You Submit It

Before you submit, please view your pages in Netscape.

  • Unclosed tags, missing quotation marks and forgotten line and paragraph breaks happen to everyone and can cause havoc with your Web page.
  • It is unprofessional and can be quite embarrassing to discover mistakes once you’re already on-line.

To view your document in Netscape without having it “on-line”

  1. For Unix: From the command line, type in “netscape”.
  2. For Windows: Click on the “Netscape” icon.
  3. From the File Menu at the top of the screen, click on “File”
  4. Click on “Open File in Browser”
  5. You may now click on the file you wish to open or type in the name, complete with the directory.

Making changes in your document if you find mistakes

    • Edit the text file as desired, as save the file.
    • To view changes, you must press the “reload” button in Netscape.

Common errors to watch out for:

    • Missing quotation marks: <IMG SRC=”mypic.gif > and <A HREF= http://www.emtek.com”>
    • Missing closing tags: &ltFONT SIZE=5><B>your interesting text here.</FONT> (the </B> is missing)
