New features are on the way!
Never fear, D.J. here, and I’d like to announce some of the new things coming up at quadzilla.com. First and foremost, I’d like to thank the thousands of web developers who have visited my site. What started out as a list of links to other sites has evolved into what I’d like to think is one of the best HTML resources on the Net.
You may or may not have noticed, but the world of Web Development has literally exploded. There are new technologies and software developing every day, much faster than this one-man operation can keep up-to-date with, especially when this one-man operation has to work for a living at Fort Wayne Internet. With that said, this site *will* keep up with the newest trends and technology.
Now, what many of you have been asking for, some of the new features planned and in the works:
- The newest features for Internet Explorer 4.0
I saw some of the features in demonstrations at Comdex. I’ve been using both Netscape Communicator 4.0 and IE 4.0, and IE 4.0 is the better browser by far. Say what you will about Microsoft, but they have some of the best technology to-date. I guess Uncle Bill can afford the best when it comes to software developers, it shows. This will also offer tips on intragation with other Office 97 products like Access, Word, and others.
- Updated HTML Tricks
A guide to the best HTML tricks and tips. It will be much more in-depth than the existing tricks.
- New Tutorials!
Including new tutorials and information covering Frames, CGI, ActiveX, Java, a revised Table Tutorial, VBScript, Javascript, Dynamic HTML, Database connectivity (using Access97 and SQL), Active Server Pages, and much more. These tutorials will arrive in the order of demand, which is why it’s vitally important to fill out the Feedback Form! If you’ve got more feedback but have already filled out the form, just fill it out again.
- A New Site Design
Because of the amount of information on the site, a new design is required, which will also include much better and easier navigation.
- Product Reviews
In-depth reviews and tips on some of the newest software. Some of these will be directly HTML related, some will be included due to the spectrum of Web Development. This will cover some of the more popular HTML editors, Graphic Editors and Tools, Database connectivity applications, web browsers and servers, plugins, and more.
- Links Links Links!
A huge directory database of links ranging from HTML resources to plugins.
If you have *any* comments, questions, or most importantly suggestions, please fill the Feedback Form out. I can’t stress how important your feedback is, above all else, it determines what road this site goes down in the way of new features and information.
You may or may not have noticed, but my winter hibernation is over! I haven’t updated the site for a couple weeks, but that will change very soon. Actually, I’ve been very busy with work among other things, but that’s one drawback of running a one-man operated site. I’d like to be updating this site many times during the day with new features and information on new technologies - there are just not enough hours in the day. An open note to whoever invented days: 24 hours is not enough!
I just got back from Spring 97 Comdex in Atlanta, Georgia. It was a blast, even the slight exception of the back-woods hotel somewhere in Kentucky we stayed in on the way back - No comment.
Want my little Comdex recap? Here goes…
The big player: MICROSOFT. It seemed like Microsoft had almost half the building, with 2 product demonstration theaters (all demonstrations were standing room only), banners all over, and new product info. Before I get to what impressed me the most, something I found strange - Netscape was absolutely no where to be seen. I would have bet money since Communicator 4.0 is their latest and greatest pride. No word on why, but they were a no-show at Comdex.
Microsoft thoroughly impressed me with their demonstrations of Internet Explorer, Visual InterDev, and Visual Studio 97. Many have asked me, and if you’re interested, I will be keeping an eye on the following Microsoft products and technologies:
- Internet Explorer 4.0
- FrontPage97
- Programming languages in Visual Studio 97 - Visual Basic, Visual C++, and Visual J++
- Scripting - VBScript
- Database development - Access97 and SQL
- Quake (whoops, just another hobby.. heh)
- ActiveX
- Visual InterDev (this looks like an awesome development tool)
- Active Server Pages (.asp) (click on Learn About IIS)
The bottom line - Microsoft will continue to gain momentum in the browser market and surpass all others, including Netscape. Get an edge on your peers and start keeping attention to these technologies.
